Does choosing the business major option on the common app hurt my chances of acceptance?

Not really sure about this I thought that it might not matter because people declare majors after their first year but I was told otherwise by some.

There’s no reason why it would hurt your chances. It’s not as if colleges DON’T want potential business majors. But also, it’s nothing to game either. If it is an actual interest, list it. If not, then don’t. It’s 100% acceptable to say UNDECIDED or to list something and switch later. It happens all the time. I recall reading the biggest block of admitted Harvard freshmen listed “undecided” as their choice of major. What does that tell you?

@T26E4 Thanks for the response. I was scared because the college I applied to has about 1200 undergraduates enrolled per year of which only 125 are in the business school so I thought it was hurt my chances.

It depends on the school and what their admissions/majors are like. If you took business classes in HS and have good grades in them, it can only help.

I applied to Wake Forest which has a two year business program, so I’m not really sure if my choice of business management when I applied would hurt me or not.
