Does college life get ANY better than HS life??

Alright this isn't the standard question regarding test scores, chances, or other academic liveries. This is about college life in Cornell as a whole.

Senior year has started, and I'm really hating school right now...it feels like I don't fit here, people don't have the same interests as I have, a majority of people are so immature and shallow. I really believe there's a huge correlation between intelligence and maturity for people in general.
Only about 6 people including me (2220) out of 500 seniors in this class broke a 2000 on the SAT...that's how pathetic our school is.

I don't have any friends to connect with in high school..I feel really alone and misplaced. I've always felt this way since HS started, but now it pains even more. I'm usually a really good fun person to hang out with. Like I got into COSMOS and oh boy it was such a fun experience! People were so nice, I had a blast..made meaningful friends. The girls were really nice and fun too! haha.

My question is, does college life get better than the stupid high school crap I'm dealing with now? According to my councelor, I have a good chance that I might end up at Cornell. So I really need to know.
In HS, I had one female friend who I thought would be a really good friend of mine...but she betrayed me and now I feel so broken..we were so close, and now this?? A lot of people are like her as I realize it now. No one respects friendship. Everyone is so rude.
Does life get ANY better in Cornell??? Is it possible to make meaningful friends, meet nice people who genuinly care?
If I had one wish, I wish I was Charmander...that way I can just burn my school down and get this over with

college is definitely worse than high school.

dont come to cornell ever… easily the worst choice Ive ever made

sarcasm aside, I hated my HS too. I had some great friends, 2-3 of which I still talk to, but as a whole I really hated it.

Cornell was a magnificent part of my life. The people, the culture, the learning environment - it was marvelous. College isn’t like HS, you’ll be surrounded by some of the smartest students in the world. Don’t sweat it.

while you can say hakuna matata once you’re at cornell, you shouldnt be coming here just to attempt to escape…

obviously everyone will have different experiences and it is all relative. i wish i didn’t come to cornell, and haven’t had the greatest time/experience here, i had a miserable time in high school as well… so i suppose things ‘improved’ for me. i was at northwestern (best year of my life) as a freshman and transferred and am now a senior, so i know that plays a part.

but tons of people love it here, so don’t take anyone’s word for anything. depends on what matters to you. academics? you’ll get a top notch education and learn more than you thought you ever would. in the end, that is the most important thing for your future.

and as for me, i dont remember anything i learned in the past 2 years of cornell . . . probably my bad memory

just so you know, I was being sarcastic…

I love cornell a lot.

On a more serious note: Most parents (over on the parent’s forum) will say that their students get to college and find their intellectual peers and that college is a huge relief to them. Instead of being the top dog in their own little homogeneous corner of the world, they are now a small fish in a big pond of diverse students all excited about what they are learning. It’s refreshing and stimulating. Way better than highs chool.

Good luck to you!
