<p>Hello,</p>
<p>We are trying to determine if the Cooper Union pre-college summer program takes students who are currently in 9th grade. The website and application are ambiguous.</p>
<p>Also, when do they let you know if you are accepted into the program?
Thanks in advance.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, many summer programs are not clear about whether you need to be in a grade while applying or rising to that grade for the following fall. The best thing to do is give them a call and ask them both of your questions.</p>
<p>I quit posting but there is not much time for you really, so here is what I know.
Today is Friday; you won’t get to talk to the human until Tuesday.
You can call 212 353 4202 and see if they picks up the phone, or there will be recorded message when to call. You can leave message but good luck they’d give back call.
Most likely they would say NO, because 10th 11th graders means finishing, not rising and they’d give preference to rising seniors (finishing 11th graders) always.
BUT, there used to be no 10th grader allowed in 6 weeks but now they don’t say that.
My guess is, if your kid is Picasso and you are poor enough, they might just bend.
I annoyed hell out of the director last summer because my kid will miss half of 4 weeks program but wanted to stay in the class roster. They did not allow it because there are long waiting lists.
Good luck! It is the experience just to get reviewed. You don’t even have to say the kid is 9th grade finishing, like, woops I assumed you meant rising 10th grader, but I’d recommend 4 weeks because 6weeks review is the hellhouse.</p>
<p>They’ll send you the mail either accepted or rejected in about a week-ten days afterward.</p>
<p>I just did the spring program. You can find all the info here:
[The</a> Cooper Union Saturday Outreach Programs ? Free Art Classes for High School Students in New York City](<a href=“http://www.Saturdayoutreach.org%5DThe”>http://www.Saturdayoutreach.org)</p>
<p>The portfolio review for the summer program is May 10th (next saturday)
I don’t recall seeing any freshman, but it wouldn’t hurt to go get interviewed.</p>
<p>Hopefully I’ll see you there!</p>
