Hi..
I heard you have to be a New Yorker to get into Summer out reach program
for Cooper, but I live in California!!
Can I still take summer school?
or Do I have ANY CHANCE?

Well my kid took the fall and winter program there. You have to get on a line
of about 300 or more kids with portfolio in hand and wait for hours and get
an interview. You go home and wait a few days or week to find out, you'll
get a call if you make it and then finally a letter will follow. She commutes
but we live close enough but not in the state of New York. I know they have
dorms but for the outreach program I dont know. You'll need to find out, I would think they do. So your from cali, let me ask you a question, how did
you know about the Cooper Union?

Luckeyg, email me if you want to know more about the Cooper

last time, I sent you 2 messages, and I was like impatient about answer so i'm writing up here. I hope you see this... (I'm getting freaky about Cooper!!! since no one knows about it. :-(.. it's like I'm dying.)
Well.. I got 2,300 on SAT and my GPA is like 4.2(never got straight As..)
and Do you think to get into Architect major, it's enough or do you think it's very low? Do you know anyone who got into archi major? if you do what was there GPA and SAT score? (I'm eager to Know)
I was thinking if I can't get into summer outreach program, I was going to try out for Pratt,( if I get financial aid..) do you think that is good choice?
In Cali, no one knows about Cooper.. :C... even the teachers.. :C..
how I find out, i sent you the message, explaining how..
and How many ppl try out for summer outreach program? it is hard to get in?
I'm so eager to know.. T^T.. and I don't know how to thank you that you replied me.. Thank you..

The architecture school looks a lot more at the portfolio rather than the SAT and your GPA from what I hear.

I'm not surprised that nobody knows about Cooper in cali... I've met people in New York who haven't heard of it either if you can believe that (non-academic people). Most students here are from the northeast.

omg, Luckeyg, I just wrote you this really long letter and tried to quick post it
and it said I was not logged on anymore and I refreshed it and signed on again and lost my letter. Listen I'll write you tomorrow cause , my son really
wants this PC. Sorry.....................

i don't understand..
isn't cooper really really good school?
but how cum ppl don't know about it?
I heard it's harder than MIT..
oh.. and thanx for replies.. ^0^.
oh, and for Archi.. you don't have to take
ap chem,RIGHT? cuz I'm taking AP chem, and I'm like dying..
i barely hav B-. :P

oh, and capo2160.. don't worry 'bout it..
you don hav to be in hurry. lol :D
thank you! :D

Luckeyg, The Cooper Union is the best of the best. It's an elite university.
You have to be exceptional. In the archi and art and engineering world, you
can't get any better. It's a higher form of learning, most people dont want to
work that hard. I heard a girl say to me, she started the home test and it
was too much trouble, she felt why should she knock herself out if she probabley did'nt have a chance anyway. My daughter on the other hand,
loves it there. She wants to work hard and reach for the starts. She wants
to be someboby in the Art world and be best she can be. She believes at
The Cooper Union you can be that, and they teach you how, if your good
enough. Your sat's are almost perfect, how'd you pull that off?
What year in High School, are you in? I have a few suggestion's for you.
1. Try to get in the summer program at Cooper Union or Pratt Institute.
2. If you get in cooper, first shot, wow................
3. Pratt will be easier to get into and it will be a great learning experience.
4.Then try to get into the summer program again at Cooper for the following
year. I'm assuming your a Junior
5. Get a kick Ass portfolio in order. Go to As many National Portfolio days you
can. There they will guide you as to what they think of your work and
your Portfolio and how you can fix it, they might even tell you to go home
and never return but, I'm assuming your good. You can draw, right?
6. At National Portfolio day dont get upset when they find fault with your
work, that's what their job is, to help you make that PF the best it can
be this way when you go on interview's it will be your best.
7. Also stop being so nervous, at least dont let them see it, they wont
appreciate it, they interpret as a weakness.

Be able to explain your work, the concept, it's all about concept.

Ok, I cant think of anything else for now, so write me if you have any
more questions.

She wants to work hard and reach for the starts, that's a typo, Luckeyg,
I meant to say reach for the Stars

really,
It helped me a lot.
well, I guess I have to work really really super duper hard. :D

how do you get scholarship for summer school?
