Does CSU still accept if I have an F in stats??

I have failed both sememster if stats (and btw Im currently a junior) would csu nt want to see any failing courses even if its not a required class? Would I still have a chance???

First of all, Stats is an a-g course, so you have to report all a-g courses taken from 9-11th grade on your CSU application. Secondly, your F will be calculated into your CSU GPA which is only 10-11th grades for the a-g courses and it will have a negative impact on your GPA. If you repeat the Stats course during the summer, you can replace the F grade with your repeat grade.

Depending upon which CSU’s and majors you are targeting, an F can hurt your chances.

Since it is almost the end of Junior year, calculate your CSU GPA and repost so CC posters can give you an idea of your chances along with your test scores. Only Cal Poly SLO will consider EC’s so the rest will admit based on GPA and test scores.

CSU’s admit by CSU GPA and SAT/ACT scores. They calculate an eligibility index and will admit students based on their EI and major.

EI= (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+CR) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT composite x10).

It is hard for me to take stats over the summer because it is too expensive… Could I take it during my senior year and would they still accept it as retake?

Problem with taking it Senior year is that the CSU application is due end of November, so your Senior grades are not considered in the admission process. Your CSU GPA will still be 10-11th grades so the F will still impact your GPA. You do self-report your Senior classes so admissions will be aware that you are retaking the class. Some CSU’s however do ask for 7th semester Senior transcripts before conditionally accepting you, so having a passing grade 1st semester Senior year in Stats may be enough for them to accept you.

Much depends upon which CSU’s you are targeting, since the very competitive/impacted CSU’s will probably have an issue with your F.

How about taking stats at a local Community college over the summer? That will count as 11th grade. You probably would need to take a test first at the CC though to see what level you are eligible first.

Do you know if csu Los Angeles see the 7th semester or is okay with F??
Thanks a lot by the way, because my counselors aren’t this great at explaining…

Any CSU could ask for a 7th semester transcript depending upon each student’s situation but as far as I know CSULA does not routinely ask for 7th semester transcripts. It may also depend upon your intended major since impacted majors have a higher level of criteria so they could ask to see them.

You might want to call CSULA directly and ask this question. If you plan to apply there, then getting the correct answer is important.

Overall, what is your CSU GPA with the F grades? CSU’s admit by eligibility index and major. If you are a local in-service area applicant your eligibility index could have a lower threshold for an acceptance so along with your CSU GPA, you will also need your SAT/ACT scores and the F’s may not have a huge impact.

Eligibility index= (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + EBRW) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT composite x10)
