would it help if i take a dual enrollment course over the summer at my local community college? does anyone know if your grade for this goes into your high school GPA?

Doing well in a dual enrollment course will demonstrate that you're prepared for college-level work, which will definitely help you in admissions.

Whether the grade goes into your high school GPA depends on the nature of the dual enrollment program. Is this a program that's formally run through your high school? Or are you simply registering for a class with the community college? If the former, it will show up on your transcript and go into your GPA. If the latter, you won't receive credit and it won't go into your GPA unless you bring a copy of your grade to your GC and tell them to add it to your transcript.

thanks so much! your post was very helpful!! :)

No problem - good luck :)

If you're more ambitious, you could take it concurrent with your school year -- my dual-enrollment programme doesn't subsidise courses in the summer. :(

I have a question though -- does a dual-enrollment grade anything short of an A actually hurt? (A curiosity, mainly for the benefit of my younger sibling, as well.)
