Does Early Decision increase chances?

Does applying ED increase your chances of acceptance? I have a 3.3 (weighted) High School GPA, 1980 SATs, 32 ACT, and weak ECs, but Boston University is my dream school. Would applying ED help me? Or is it a lost cause?

Applying ED will statistically help you, that being said it only benefits you if you are a qualified or slightly under-qualified applicant, even with ED many people get rejected. Your ACT is high enough, but your GPA is too low (I am assuming your unweighted is around a 3.0, and unweighted is the GPA that really matters) and weak ECs are not idea for a top school. Personally I would not go for it and would instead try ED at a school that is a reach but more likely then BU.
