That made me LOL! The only way George becomes a dentist is if the UK becomes a republic first.
The reason I can’t get behind the idea that the palace deliberately planted negative stories about them (true stories? lies?) is that they never give an example. Not one.
Meghan complains that they called her children the N word. I searched and couldn’t find when or where that happened. The closest I could find was them calling Meghan ‘straight outta Compton’ at the very beginning of her dating Harry. Agree that was harsh but I really doubt it came from the palace, and it was long before she had children.
How did they want the palace to respond to the press stories? Why couldn’t H &M released their side? Did they have NO press connections? Do we really think that People or InTouch wouldn’t have published anything that was fed to them by H&M, that Oprah wouldn’t have been all over it?
I don’t think they were as helpless as they portray. All the press wasn’t bad. There were some who loved everything Meghan wore and how she interacted with the public, how great their royal tour went in AUS and NZ.
I also don’t understand why they had to get out of Canada at the start of Covid. They claim the press knew where they were and Canada was going to close the borders, so they wouldn’t be safe. Huh? If they closed the borders then more press would be kept out. To me, stay on an island, let the few members of the press also stuck in Canada get tired of watching you walk the dogs, enjoy the beautiful location, set up a few cameras for extra security.
Nope, run to LA because there isn’t any press there!
The UK tabloid press is famous for using offensive headlines to attract attention (and remember that journalists don’t write headlines, the editors do). More than 30 years later, this one is still almost universally known amongst British people over the age of 50:

Clever wordplay is a mark of sophistication amongst high end UK publications too, with The Economist very notable for punny headlines, so much so that academic papers are written about it:

This appears to be a poorly judged and failed attempt at a pun (about gun violence in LA), which looks a lot worse 5+ years later, especially to Americans who aren’t familiar with the style of UK tabloids. If she’d grown up in Seattle you’d probably have seen a headline about Harry finding his Nirvana (with a picture of her wearing grunge style clothing).
I wasn’t going to say anything about the boos, but I’m glad you did. I watch Colbert every night and heard the announcement and didn’t hear any boos. I thought about going back to re-listen, but I just don’t care enough. I will say that the reception didn’t come across as overwhelming jumping for joy, but I certainly didn’t hear a chorus of boos.
Yeah but I wouldn’t expect much of an enthusiastic reception (like the preceding Tom Hanks announcement) from an audience who probably wont be in attendance for the future show…but who knows…and as you said, who really cares? It’s just the spin/disinformation/negativity that I question.
Agree totally with you. I always think it’s funny when a host says who’s coming on the next day and the crowd is kind of bummed. You can’t be at every taping, people! lol
Canada is not big enough for their egos.
After hearing about the excerpts from Harry’s new book I have concluded that Harry and Meghan deserve each other. Unfortunately, the rest of us will have to listen to their tales of victimhood until the next celebrity “crisis” comes along.
Again, if you have negative feelings towards them? Then yes, “Canada isn’t big enough for their egos.”
I for once think it makes perfect sense to be in CA where her mom can be next to them and part of her kids life. Why on earth would you stay isolated in Canada at a time when you don’t know if pandemic would allow free movement across borders when you can be right next to your mom? With my mom abroad, this is the sort of decisions I faced and I know what I decided. It just makes sense to me that being in in CA where they have family, friends, and legal claim to live, they would opt to be there and not hiding out in Canada where they clearly stayed as a temporary vacation as they sorted their lives.
CA being arguably the world’s largest media center was another reason to move there.
Perhaps they chose Canada initially because it still has legal ties to the UK. King Charles is King of Canada. Maybe they thought it would be easier to keep and use their royal titles there
It’s like a train wreck. I can’t stop looking, but there is absolutely no way I would buy this book and contribute to them.
“Harry had claimed that his father and brother showed “no willingness to reconcile,” “
Why would his father and brother try to reconcile with him when he continues to reveal his version of everything said in private meetings? Absolutely zero trust there!!
Whatever, there certainly weren’t cheering…maybe indifference, grumbling? Didn’t sound positive. I wonder if Colbert has laid off joking about the recent revelations to keep the interview happening?
But shutting up will not get them millions.
You can alternately ask: Why would Harry continue to stay in the royal family and continue the status quo when either his father or brother were leaking private discussions to the media? Absolutely zero trust there! Examples would be the private conversations where Harry broached H&M stepping back from their royal roles, but not leaving completely. So seems like there already was a lack of trust based on the actions of Charles, William, and their staff.
Editing to add: I think with some distance and the passage of time, Harry might come to regret sharing so much of this publicly but I continue to be more sympathetic towards him versus William and Charles, as I do feel that the betrayal originated from them first. They should have placed more value on familial ties rather than selling out their own brother/son for the sake of the institution.
But does anyone really think that the queen, William and Charles would have been able to convince H and M to stay? The Monarchy is its’ own entity and has rules/expectations. Given that H and M( as soon as they left) dropped his entire family in the grease;I would guess that no concessions would have been accepted. Harry seems to be enveloped in so much bitterness.
I have seen no proof that William and Charles leaked information to the press. It’s just Harry saying it happened. I don’t know if it did or didn’t happen but there are certainly a lot of people around the royals who could have leaked information. Lots of hearsay.
The private conversations being spoken about are coming directly from Harry himself. So very much a reason not to trust Harry.
Basically, everything is coming from Harry and Meghan.
A British colonel stated that Prince Harry is naive and not only has he betrayed his blood family but he has also betrayed his military family by sharing the stories of who he killed in A etc.
The more these revelations trickle out, the more convinced I am that Harry is not a well man.
He has disclosed so much deeply intimate conversations, I don’t know how this can be fixed.
"…He writes that William said: ‘Harold, you must listen to me! I just want you to be happy, Harold. I swear I swear on Mummy’s life.’
Harry continued: 'He stopped. I stopped. Pa stopped. He’d gone there.
‘He’d used the secret code, the universal password. Ever since we were boys those three words were to be used only in times of extreme crisis.’
The Duke claimed his brother ‘wasn’t quite ready to accept defeat’ and claimed to be ‘properly sick and ill’ over the tensions between the pair.
William allegedly reiterated: ‘I swear to you now on Mummy’s life that I just want you to be happy’.
Harry claims his ‘voice broke’ and he ‘softly’ told William: ‘I really don’t think you do.’
The elder brother then allegedly hugged Harry and said: ‘I love you’.
And then confessing he got high on laughing gas during Meghan’s labor with Archie!
He says when a nurse tried to give laughing gas to Meghan for the pain there was none left. He describes how the nurse looked at the empty tank and then looked back at him:
‘I could see the thought slowly dawning. Gracious, the husband’s had it all. “Sorry,” I said meekly.’
Gosh!
Celebrities use PR firms to plant stories about them all the time. They use PR firms to fix unflattering stories from hitting the press. The Sussex’s used such a firm that they have now separated from. Sunshine Sachs. They are very powerful.
I do not know how this is so much different than the royal family having relationships with the press. It’s how it’s done. The Sussex’s know that. They do it. They did it.
Maggie Haberman seemingly has a direct line to TFG. This is just an example of the press working with a source to report.
The laughing gas thing is just plain weird and even weirder that he would admit to doing that. He also says he had a picture of Diana in the room during labor.
This book is not doing him any favors. SNL could certainly have had a field day with all of this if they were live tonight.
What??!! He needs serious professional help. Not writing books. Goodness.
