Or do you have to go to a regular post office off campus for every little thing you have to send? I cannot imagine school as large as Gtown not having something on campus but I cannot find anything online. All I could find was Mailing Services under auxiliary services and the address was for a location wayyy off-campus. Any ideas?

There is a Fed Ex in Polton Hall. There is also outgoing mail collection in the dorms, a USPS drop box right out the front gates and another one near Leavy. The post office isn’t too far if you need to send a flat rate box.

^I cannot believe that a university of Georgetown’s size does not have a more comprehensive mailing service than a couple of drop boxes. This means that everything needs to be prestamped. What if it is something urgent or you need to send a box, you will have to waste so much time going to the post office. How does the faculty has its mail handled? I will not believe that they go to the post office every time they need to send a package.

I’m not quite sure what you were expecting. I have never heard anyone complain about outgoing mail. Really anything urgent or a package can go through the on campus fedex and letters get dropped off at the front gates. I’ve had to walk to the post office once in my time here because I wanted a special kind of packaging fedex did not carry. Regardless, it seems like a strange thing to be worried about. Both Georgetown students and faculty seem to be getting along with the university’s current offerings.

It’s a UPS in Poulton Hall. The Post Office is on 31st between M and N, I think. And yes, it’s a ***** to go to.

That’s right. I can never remember. My bad.

If you’re really interested, staff and faculty have the Office of Mail Services, which comes around once a day to pick up any outgoing mail. The mail all has the department’s cost center number written on it. Mail services them puts the appropriate postage (using a Pitney-Bowes machine or something similar, I imagine) on each piece of mail, charging its cost to the department’s cost center.

The Georgetown post office on 31st street is about a 15 minute walk; this may come as a shock to people who didn’t grow up in urban areas, but in cities, people actually walk places. In addition to the UPS in Poulton Hall, there is another UPS Store on N Street, just before Wisconsin, as well as a P.O. Boxes Etc. on Wisconsin between R & S Streets. There is also a Kinkos FedEx on M Street at Bank St., right next to SweetGreen.

The Wisconsin Avenue GUTS bus also takes you up Wisconsin, so you can go to P.O. Boxes Etc. from the first (Safeway) stop or to the USPS Calvert Station (across from Whole Foods) from the third stop.
