D is considering not having a Yale P.O. box. Do many Yalies not have one? Given email and services like UPS, is there any real need to have a box?

LOL: what will she give as her on campus mailing address? Her residential college will frown on having to sort her mail (which of course she'll get because her name will quickly get on marketing lists). Will you mind having to have her mail sent to you? And will you mind having to open letters that need quick responses? If she's on Old Campus, there isn't mail sent to those dorms whatsoever.

UPS and email is fine but I don't see how she can operate w/o a POB to receive snail mail in New Haven -- at least not yet.

Yes, she'll need one. We've had much faster results with small packages sent via the post office rather than UPS, which delivers packages to the Master's office, not the dorms. And snail mail is still used for some things - letters received from potential employers/internships, for example.

Thanks. She will be getting one.
