Does getting a B (Freshman Year) hurt your Transcript?

Especially if you're aiming for the acclaimed colleges? Some say they don't pay too much attention to Freshmen grades, but...otherwise I have As, a few A+s here and there..

No. There are a few top schools, most notably Princeton, Stanford, and the UC’s, that don’t pay attention to freshman year grades. One B shouldn’t destroy your chances.

And even if they do look at freshmen grades, I had 2 or 3 Bs when I applied to college this year, and I got into 2 ivies, so you should be fine as long as you mostly have As and A+s.

All As won’t get you into top schools. Having a few Bs here and there won’t prevent it either. I give info sessions for my HYP alma mater. What I tell students and families is this: “would your teachers and school administrators list you as one of the top academic students in the whole school?” If so, then you’re a reasonable applicant. You don’t have to have a perfect 4.0

I wish I could tell the kids in my school to strive for this rather than grade-whoring.

OP, plenty of schools disregard freshman grades entirely. Even at the ones that don’t, I can’t imagine that one B will be the reason you are rejected from anywhere, especially if you have great scores and ECs.
