Will one B hurt my chances?

I know this question has been asked countless times in this forum, but I really am curious about what you guys think of my situation. I ended up getting a B+ in Algebra II/Trig for first semester of my freshman year, and since our school doesn’t use +/- on the transcript, I technically got a B. Will this hurt my chances for schools like UChicago, Berkeley, and the Ivies? Also, I know a lot of people say “don’t worry about it, just get A’s from now on”, but the thing is, I can’t guarantee I won’t get any more B’s after I just got one. Does anyone have any advice?

1.) You’ll be fine
2.) Focus less into getting into “top schools”

  1. Figure out why you are getting a B. Are you reading the chapters? Doing the homework? doing extra problems? not getting extra help?

  2. Do the best you can do.

  3. Find a college that fits you, don’t try to make you fit a college.
