Does GU have it?

All of the schools on my list have something of a feel to them. They're not all located in "college towns", situated in rural areas, or populated solely by undergrads, but there's a sort of vibe to most of them; I want to know if Georgetown has it: Mom-and-Pop coffeeshops, independent bookstories, narrow sidewalks, hilly grass, etc.

I know GU is in DC, but I've heard it's not completely integrated like NYU or GWU. I'm planning to visit in the spring, but can anybody tells me if it has that sort of feel to it?

it doesn't really have the type of feel you described, rather than mom and pop type places georgetown (the section of dc) has more of popular big name stores, in particular lots of high end clothing stores (as i'm a guy who is pretty much indifferent to clothing choices this doesn't matter to me, but i thought i'd put it in case it matters to anyone else out there.) it has its own feel, but it's definitely different than what you described, really the best way of knowing is by visiting. i hope this helped somehow...sorry it's not all that descriptive, it's kind of hard to describe

Gtown is a pretty urban campus, even though it is more self-contained than NYU/GWU. Of all the colleges I've visited (Yale, Columbia, Princeton, and Gtown), Georgetown is definitely has least "typical college" feeling. I don't remember there being really any rolling grassy hills or anything like that at all, although I did visit in the winter, so my impressions might have been a bit skewed. It was still a nice campus, though, and I feel like DC probably makes up for the lack of a real campus feel. I loved it, personally (and rather unexpectedly!).

It's got a nice campus but it certainly is no Cornell or Dartmouth where it's pretty rural. I mean since it is in Washington DC, it is urban. As others have said, it's not like NYU where it is in the city but rather its more of like a subset of the city. Still it doesnt have those rolling hills like you describe. It's urban in its own right but not TOO urban if that makes sense at all. And as others have said, Wisconsin and M isn't filled with Mom and Pop stores but really a lot of big name downtown shopping.
