Does Harvard do an interview with ANYONE that's interested, or what?

A girl at my school who (I thought) was vastly underqualified got an interview with them at a local Starbuck (in Wisconsin).
Her gpa is probably a 3.7 uw (I think, lower than mine :3.87 anyway)
Her ACT is probably about the same as mine 25-26ish maybe?
She did however take 3 ap classes, went to Haiti for volunteerism, captian of swim team
She was waitlisted for UW Madison, accepted into Minnesota Twin Cities

Just seems like Harvard would be more interested in 4.0s and 36's

I don't really know though...maybe they want diversity!

I not doubting her intelligence, I'm just wondering why they would be interested in her when I think there are probably more qulified applicants to spend time on...

Most schools don’t pre-sort the interviews. My alma mater doesn’t. The zero chancer and the shoo-in are equally likely to receive interviews. Harvard does a little, I hear. But it’s not unusual for extremely unlikely applicants to be interviewed either. Perhaps they have extra interview openings.

Based on the metrics you’ve reported, unless she is a recruited athlete, she won’t be buying tickets to Boston this September.

Yes, Harvard interviews all applicants.
