does harvard treat the writing section equally as the other two SAT sections?

Yeah, i got an 800 in math and a 730 in critical reading, but only a 710 in writing. How much does writing count as the other two sections?

Nice, same writing score as I did. As far as I know Harvard does not consider your writing SAT. I’m pretty sure about that, but I could be wrong.

^Wrong. I distinctly remember a Harvard admissions representative (who visited my school) saying that the writing section is as important as the other two sections.

so is lobzz or doberhound 1 correct?

OP, in your case, I don’t think it really matters; the difference between your scores is negligible. Still, I would venture to say that I am, in actual fact, correct.

Seriously? I visited and remember the admissions lady saying they didn’t. Plus in the booklet I got it only has statistics for the CR and M sections.

Do you still want to argue?

Source: Kaplan.

To be honest guys, it’s been there for 5 years now.

Writing is just as important. People hardly saw the 1600 score. Measuring out of 2400 is a standard now.

Say*

I’m on my iPod touch so I can’t edit.

I dunno, maybe your right. I’m just saying what I’ve been told. Moral of the story: do well on all the sections so either way your fine.

The person conducting the information session that I attended indicated that all three sections are considered and said that they don’t consciously give more weight to one section than to another.

When they originally added the writing section, I think a lot of schools didn’t really put much emphasis on the writing section, but now that it’s been developed over the past few years, the writing section bears more weight at most schools

It’s also worth noting that the Writing section correlates, by a small margin, more positively with college GPA than do the other two sections.

Wasn’t the SAT writing section originally a SATII subject test that was once either required or recommended by a number of colleges, one that collegeboard just later incorporated into the actual SAT when it switched to the present day format?

And also, didn’t it specifically say somewhere, maybe on the collegeboard website, that Harvard may even consider the essay itself in the admission process if needed?

This is a proven fact. Thank you for pointing that out, silverturtle; I had forgotten about that little detail.
