My gpa is 3.57 UW and 3.9 W although im sure itll go up after they recalculate my gpa with my first semester senior grades (all As except for one B+, 4 APs, 1 HN and 2 Reg classes)
I was wondering if I don't stand a chance with that gpa ? Because most of the people have flawless gpas and their weighted is like 4.5 and still get rejected.
My sat is 2250 (CR 800 W 670 M 770) and SAT II Math 2 is 800 and I took the bio but im really not confident about my bio score either (guessing around 600-700)
My scores are subpar but I think my essays are pretty good, and I wasnt sure how holistic columbia admissions were (compared to brown, etc). Do they weigh a lot on numbers?

Thanks in advance. I really want to go and I love everything about Columbia but I'm skeptical of my chances ):

As you should know, there isn’t any thing such as ‘automatic disqualification’ based on gpa. I think Columbia and Brown are on the same page as far as holistic admissions go. Essays need to be good. They don’t ‘make up’ for other components. Your M+CR score is very good. I don’t know what else you have going on for you, but it looks slim but possible.

Thanks. And how important are the supplement essays? I’m obviously going to give it my best, but I just want to know whether it weighs similarly to common app or they look at it more superficially?

*W 680 (sorry typo if that makes any difference)

It’s healthy to be skeptical. Anyone who applies to a college with a single digit admit rate would be a raving fool not to be. Keep Columbia as your reach/dream school. Make sure you apply broadly enough to a suite of schools you’ll love attending and can afford next year. Good luck to you

I just got my sat subject test score and its bio 640 and lit 640
i know those are both extremely low scores but I have to send one in so I’m kind of out of luck. Which one do you guys suggest I send in ?

It depends on where your strengths are as a student, are you a pre-science major? Then send the lower lit score, since it’s not your field (a low bio score if you want to be a bio major seems more skeptical then a low lit score which isn’t your field) and vise versa. If that approach doesn’t fit you, then look at the curves for which test, see which has a “harsher” curve and send that in, because the same 640 won’t look as bad on a harder test, if that makes any sense.
