The short answer to your quesiton is no. :)

The long answer is it depends. I know a neurosurgeon who had a C average all through high school, but then really applied himself in college and is now an excellent physician. However, if you did something really really bad or really really good in high school it might have an effect on med school admissions, but overall it's really college that counts.

I have talked to several med school admissions committees and they've all assured us that they dont. They're too busy sorting through your college portfolio that your high school stats are more oftenly ignored. The only time your high school stuff (ECs, etc. . .) is brought up is during the interview when they are trying to evaluate the level of interest or passion you have to become a doctor.

I would think that it matters somewhat. You have to care enough in high school to GET into a respected college. Or at least one that will get you where you want to go. I guess it really does depend on your situation and what you plan on going into/doing.
