My dad handed me all our tax papers and I'm not sure which ones I need to send. Do I need to send in the Paid Preparer's Earned Income Credit Checklist, the IRS e-file Signature Authorization, or the California Resident Income Tax Return?

No…read the checklist on your cover page!

Thank you, I’m a nimwit. So no Schedule EIC either

Not at all…I’m so impressed with kids that are navigating this process by themselves…it’s hard enough for adults to keep it all straight.

I don’t have it in front of me, but your cover page has a list of all the items you need to include…I don’t believe EIC is one of them, but we don’t have that so I’m not certain. Can your Dad go through the checklist with you and pull out the required documents?

No, it’s not listed on the cover sheet, and it doesn’t contain any financial information anyway, just “Qualifying Child Information,” so I doubt they’d want it. I’m just thrown off by the phrase “including all schedules” popping up everywhere.

I think I have all the required documents with me, but I’ll definitely ask my dad when he gets home.

What about the “Other US Tax Forms” circle? Doesn’t this technically include everything not listed on the cover sheet?

I’m confused

A lot of times there are worksheets used to determine the numbers that are put on the actual tax forms or schedules…that might be part of what your Dad gave you…they don’t want those.

I hope you Dad has helped you sort it all out! It can be very confusing.

Yeah, we sorted it out. Thank you for your help :)
