Does Income level play a role for acception?

I don't know if it's a troll but i read in the "chance me for UCLA! i need it" thread a couple of users said income is important? Does income actually play a role in your acceptance into a UC? i never fill out an application, but i'm pretty sure they don't ask about your income level, so how would they know your financial situation? Or does income not affects one's chance?

IIRC FAFSA is submitted by March 2nd of every year so… You get admission back March-Aprilish so they can see it but the rumor from that thread was some body friends uncle who works at UCLA said they do it.

I highly doubt it but anything is possible

Don’t worry. This guy had no idea what he was talking about. I’m pretty sure all the UCs are need-blind meaning they don’t take your ability to pay into account. The most I’ve heard about income is in terms of OOS. There is a myth that if an OOS student can fully pay for the tuition without FA then they’ll have a greater chance of admittance.

Public institiutions like the UCs can’t accept or deny admission based on income level.

I think it is private schools that may look into your income to see how much you would be able to contribute to your education. I read about this in the L.A. Times some time ago.

Don’t worry about it.

I’m considered low-income and got into both UCLA and UC Berkeley.
