Hi, I am a junior at high school. I am interested in research in genetics and I am thinking of applying for NIH internship for summer of 2018. I read about the process and it is quite intense and also the chances of getting one are slim. I would like to know if landing an internship at NIH is of any help with college admission.
It would be a great EC to have on your application. I think it would boost your application compared to most ECs. That being said, your application will be review holistically so you will still need good grades and test scores and other quality ECs to stand out. You said it yourself, it is an intense process and the chances of getting in are slim. All those are things make it something unique that colleges will respect. Good luck!
