Does it always rain this hard Nashville?

How much does it suck to be in that area right now? Is the campus itself flooded?

If you go to [Vanderbilt University | Nashville, Tennessee](http://www.vanderbilt.edu) and type in Common Place in the search bar, click on storm update and you get a lot of information.
This has been a storm of epic proportions and worse than a 100 year flood.
The campus itself is not flooded but is quite soggy. One of the dorms on main campus had flooding as well as North and West House at the Commons.
Nashville is very short on water so strict conservation measures are in place. We are not a New Orleans/Katrina situation but it is still a serious situation in the city and county.
So no, it does not rain this hard normally.
I have had many friends and coworkers lose their homes, cars and sanity over this and many people are hurting right now. It will take a long time for Nashville to heal and recover, which is typical when a major flood hits any metropolitan area.

I am so sorry that this has happened in Nashville. Living just 2 hours away, many of my friends have young adult children living in Nashville and several have been affected (fortunately, none too seriously - limited home damage, trapped in subdivision without formula for baby beyond today, etc.). At least this has finally captured the attention of the national news media today which may help direct additional resources in your direction. In the category of small blessings, because Vanderbilt started their semester a bit later than normal, at least this isn’t Commencement week. Commencement is a big week in Nashville providing a much needed infusion of $$$ for this community. Fortunately, due to the distance, few families would have planned lodging at the Opryland Hotel which may be out of commission for quite some time. Hopefully Alumni Lawn will be dried out by next week for the thousands that will gather for graduation.

Wow I just realized I didn’t put the word “in” between hard and Nashville. Haha. Well anyway good luck with your situation
