I asked this in another board and nobody answered. Does it help a tad if you have a sibling at the university you are applying to? If it does why?

I do know of a couple of families where more than one child went to the same college. I would think it might give you a little bit of an edge, or could be a little bit of a deterrent, but I wouldn't think that it would make a huge difference.

yea i know for sure it wont make a HUGE diffrence i just wanted to know if it would help somewhat.

She is also very involved in this diversity thing there and the university is big on diversity

bump bump bump

I have a friend who's brother is going to NYU Stern, and my friend was accepted ED there. But, I think that he would have been qualified anyway, so I'm not sure if it was because of his brother being there or not.

However, I am pretty sure that it would help you at least a little bit, because it shows that your family already has ties to the university. Also, why else would they ask that on applications?

my sister is a freshman at smith and i got waitlisted. She even wrote a very good letter of recommendation for me...bah!

See I thought they asked that to find out your families financial burdens
