Our class is a pretty strong class, so every top college gets lots of applications from my school this year. I'm wondering if colleges (CMC here) have a limit (of course, an approximate instead of a definite one) to the number of students they accept from the same school?

Schools definitely don’t have an exact limit.

Part of the holistic evaluation is considering how impressive a person’s accomplishments are in the context of their environment. If there are a lot of strong applicants from the same school, they may not seem as impressive in comparison to one another. But if one (or more than one) applicant really stands out from their peers, this would help them. I know of four people from one top east coast school that are in my class. I imagine that top CA schools can get at least that many.

Of course, this is all assuming that the admissions committee actually ever looks at a list of applicants from each school and compares them. We don’t know how this works. They may just look at statistics like school SAT averages and free lunch %.
