Does it look bad/hold me back?

<p>if i were to get an 800 on physics with my 800 on math 2
would a 700 in USH pull me back or make me look bad?
(i know 700 is a pretty good score, but i am aiming for hyps and similar prestigious universities)</p>

<p>700 is still pretty good. :)</p>

<p>i hate how they make you take tests in different subject areas. history has no help to me for the rest of my life. i'll either be a doctor or engineer but they wont say, oh but he didnt get an 800 or 750+ on history so he's not well rounded??</p>

<p>"Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it."
- George Santayana</p>

<p>stueydue, out of curiosity, which school is making you take a history SAT2 as opposed to bio or chem? if youre aiming for hyps etc, i dont think they have specifics on which SAT2 you have to take, though math 2 is pretty much required. other than that, its not necessary to diversify if you dont feel comfortable with it...i personally will end up with math 2/bio/chem.</p>

<p>screw that. if i'm going to repeat history, i'm going to repeat history. studying it will just make me miserable in the time being.</p>

<p>IMO, a 700 should not affect anything if paired with 2 800s...awesome job.everyone has strong and weak areas, so even HYPS can't expect all 800s</p>

<p>Yes, but sometimes someone's "weak area" is still strong enough to get them an 800.</p>

<p>cool.
i have already taken math 2 and gotten an 800
but im taking phys and ush in 4 days... june 7th... (those were my predicted scores)
Echelon32: i was told that you have to take subject tests in DIFFERENT SUBJECT AREAS. thats why im taking history. is what i heard wrong?? or is that only for specific schools??</p>

<p>You're right about the "different subjects" for the SAT2 tests. But of course that's pretty much automatic, apart from taking Math1 and Math2, every test is a different subject.</p>

<p>Harvard:
To satisfy our application requirements, applicants must take three SAT Subject Tests, and students may choose any three subjects, with the exception of the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT). Applicants may wish to convey the breadth of their academic interests by taking tests in different subjects.
</p>

<p>Yale:
Students who submit scores for the SAT I are also required to take two of the SAT II Subject Tests. They may take any two subject tests of their choosing.
</p>

<p>Stanford:
Many colleges will require three SAT Subject Tests – one in math and two in subjects you choose. You will be able to take three SAT Subject Tests on the same test date, but you cannot take the SAT Reasoning Test and any SAT Subject Tests on the same day. Keep in mind that although Stanford does not require SAT Subject Tests for admission, they are recommended.
</p>

<p>Princeton:
In addition, all applicants must submit the results of three different SAT Subject Tests...If you intend to study engineering (B.S.E.), your three SAT Subject Tests should include one test in either physics or chemistry, one test in either Level I or Level II mathematics and a third subject test of your choice. If you choose to take more than three subject tests, we will consider all your scores, giving the greatest weight to your three strongest scores.
</p>

<p>So if you're that unsure about USH, you may want to reconsider your third subject test. Either way, 700 is a very competitive score for HYPS etc.</p>
