Currently a high school sophomore, I have to decide the courses for next year. I have a few questions regarding foreign language. I currently take both French and Spanish honors. By the end of the year, I will have taken my NYS Regents for both subjects. If I don’t take a Foreign Language in my junior or senior year, will it look bad for admissions? I’ve heard that looks like I’m quitting. I think that I’ve completed the required cirriculum, and there are no AP classes for either. While they have some unique college classes for a SUNY college, they ARE NOT ap, and I’d rather be taking more AP courses. (weighted average is important in rankings). I just want to take the SATII for French and get a high enough score to be exempt from taking any foreign language courses in college!!! What do you think?

If ur school doesn't offer any other advanced language courses in French and Spanish, just stop...you took two languages and that's enough. But I'm not sure what this Reagents thing is...is that like AP or something? because if it is, you are fine to move on

New York State has "higher standards" or some crap like that, so they require a state-wide standardized test for each of the major subjects in high school. (kinda like a final, but the whole state takes the same thing). This certifies completion and mastery of the course, so If you fail this, chances are you have to repeat the course.
P.S. there are advanced course (beyond the required level) , but not literally A.P.

My son took Latin III in 10th grade and never took anymore language classes. He switched schools and it was too hard to deal with another teaching method for Latin. He got into Penn ED.
