Does it look bad to fail APs?

Does it look bad to fail APs? I may take American History and English, and will probably get low scores on both. Also, I may fail Physics C, but I might also do good, I don't know yet. So is it better not to take them or is it okay to fail and will colleges not care at all? This is kind of a big deal since I'm sort of a perfectionist and hate anything other than 5's even though theres no way I can get all 5's :(

So why not start studying now and get straight 5's? It's possible. That's what I intend to do, at least.

if ur taking the classes for those ap courses, it would look suspicious to not take the corresponding ap exam. study hard and do your best. seriously u may think ur gonna fail, but the curves are so generous you'd be surprised.

What do you mean your MAY?

Here's a question: Is it ok to tell a college that you are self-studying for an AP and don't take it (not intentially)?

If you are taking the classes for US History and English, then you certainly should take the AP test. I'm not sure about English, but for US History, just buy the REA guide and read through it - that, supplementing a general knowledge of American history, should be enough to get you a 5 (or at least a 4).

I don't see why you are worried about Physics C; from your other posts, it's clear that you're a very bright math/science person, and Physics C isn't particularly difficult.

There is a chance that you'll get all 5s, and a strong chance.

what does REA stand for?

" what does REA stand for? "

Research and Education Association.

Can somebody answer my question? Thanks.

Do colleges see the results of all your AP tests, even if you don't want them to?

Unless you cancel them, yes.

ecnerwalc, I think that it is okay, but you should still notify the college immediately. Most likely, it will not affect your admissions, but to save yourself from ever wondering (if you get in the college and go on to be very successful as a result) "What if I HAD told them, would I still have all this?" So tell them. Most likely they will only get a better opinion of you since they will consider you more honorable that way too.

Some of my senior friends told me about REA and it looks like it is really good. Now its just whether or not to take English. I registered for the other 3 today, and registration closes tomorrow. See, this is how it is in my school: the AP Junior/Senior English program is structured so that you take ONE English AP test at the end of senior year, and so the school statistics are insanely good because of the disproportionate number of high scores since they wait 2 years. However, some students take one after junior year. The main thing I am worried about is colleges seeing that I took AP Junior English (Lang/Comp) and not seeing an AP score for it, implying that I really didn't know anything and only got a good grade cuz the teacher was good or something.

Also, if I DO take an AP English test, which one should I take? In my school, again, the structure is so that you cover both subjects over 2 years, so we have done half Lang, half Lit, but have spent all of frosh/soph years covering basic lit. On tests, I do better on Lang. multiple choice, but do better on literature essays. So I am stuck. What should i dooOOoo?

In my school, we study for both tests in one year for AP English. A couple of weeks ago, we were given our average AP score on the practice tests, and the students with lower scores were given the chance to drop AP Language. Apparently it is harder than lit because of the grading curve and the essays. But i do agree that the multiple choice seems easier in Language.
