Does it matter if I take it twice and do horrible the second time?

The first time I got a 710 and this time I think I may get something like a 500. Is that mad? Will officers look at it askance at all? I know they'll still use my 710, but will the 500-ish affect my chances?

I think it depends on what college you're applying to. I talked to the UCLA admissions officer and they said they only look at the highest grades from everything and nothing else..so depends.

If this is the last test you will take with Collegeboard, why not just not send it to any colleges? That way if you do well, you can pay to send it, and if you don't do well, than no big deal? Now of course it will be sent later on if you take another test after it.

Whenever you send an SAT score report, it contains ALL of your previous scores on SAT Is and IIs, in addition to the performance on the current SAT. If you bombed in say, March 2007, and did well in May 2007, when you sent score reports, you couldn't choose to omit the March scores- they would be sent too.

It's one of the reason the ACT is better (you can pick and choose particular tests). For some schools that include all ACT & SAT scores on the transcript, this is a moot point, since they see all of your scores anyway. With subject tests, you don't really have a choice. Take them and do your best.

Try your best, remain relaxed- if you do really badly, it may seem like a drop in work ethic. However, everyone has off days, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to see it as pressure, sickness during testing, etc. as the source (Colleges get that not every test goes perfectly).
