Does it matter what "number" A I get in a class?

My state goes on the 10 point grading scale, a 90-100 is an A on my transcript…as long as I keep my 4.0 clean, does it matter what “number” A’s I’m getting in classes? I’ve obsessed for a long time over the number of the A because I feel like it shows my real proficiency – I think I’m going to pull out a 93 as my final grade in both algebra and chemistry, but those are only honors classes so for them to be on the low side of an A I feel like reflects poorly on my part. So mad, I should have gotten like a 95%. Have I seriously lost my marbles at this point in junior year or am I right that a great school like Vandy (hence the username) is looking for only 97%s and up…

Does your school rank? Do top students get 95s in those classes? 98s? A 93 has to be put into perspective. A 93 could be the highest grade given in your class…or one of the lowest. That is what colleges will want to know.

It’s tricky to tell. We rank the class and I’m 7/117 as of the end of last year, so my junior year grades haven’t factored into that yet because they’re not finalized. For those two chem and math classes this year, a low A is probably a middle of the line grade because there are STEM braniacs in them probably earning 98s but also plenty of people walking away with B’s…The other 5 grades going on my transcript this year are all high A’s and are above average from the rest of my class so I really don’t know how those lower A’s will affect me rank-wise or admissions-wise yet. Thus, I constantly dwell
