Does living in Philly help?

Does UPenn, for admissions give students who are applying who are in-city any type of advantage?

Yes, if you live in the city of Philadelphia, you will, for the most part, gain a slight advantage. The reason for this is in UPenn’s charter it has written that it has to let in a certain number of students from the city proper within each entering class. It is just another element to add to your application but it is not on the same level as legacy or URM.

With you 3.5 GPA a Philly residency will not likely get you in.

@TomSrOfBoston Thank you! But I won’t let CC discourage me from applying to some of the top schools in the nation. I will pursue my dreams nevertheless.
