If someone gets 800/800 in math level 2 and 800/800 in physics but he gets quite low marks in SAT english. So my question is that, will MIT consider SAT2 more than Sat 1?

They are considered equally.

And for engineering course?

It doesn’t matter what you plan your major to be. MIT accepts students to their school and not to any particular department. What do you consider a low score? A 700+ is considered high enough for MIT. After that the rest of your application is much more important to determine acceptance.

I wish MIT considered SAT IIs more than SAT I. I have exactly the same scenario as the wgergt. Though, i dont think 650 CR qualify as ‘quite low marks’

MIT has an 8-class humanities requirement (more than Stanford), so it’s important to be able to read/write/understand English at a critical level.

That said, 650 is a little low, but certainly workable. I don’t know what wgergt’s CR score is, but I suspect it’s lower, as wgergt’s other post indicates that he or she did not meet the minimum TOEFL requirement.

When MIT has applicants who are acing SAT I, SAT II, and ACT, it is pretty hard for them to make exceptions for low SAT I’s. It is a matter of supply and demand at that level.

Piper you are right but I got around 600 in writing section but in other sections, I got good enough marks. I have send sat1 and toefl scores but mit is considering only my toefl scores( I see in dash board that they are only showing my sat2 and toefl marks). Therefore I am confuse, because I didn’t meet toefl minimum requirement, even then they are considering my toefl scores instead of Sat1, but they are showing my 3subject tests, so I thought that they consider sat2more than sat1.

^ wgergt, I think you should definitely call Admissions and work out what’s happening. They might be considering both scores and have only loaded one, but it’s worth checking into.

@wgergt, you can disregard the dash board. It’s not there to tell you which scores MIT is considering. They will consider only the scores that make you look strongest in math and English. However if your low SAT score is in writing then you have little to worry about because admissions doesn’t consider the writing section, only the math and critical reading ones. That being said, the admissions office is very friendly and will reassure you if that’s what you need.
