My son is a senior in high school. He goes to a private military school in Virginia.
He has a 3.4 unweighted GPA, and his big weakness is his test scores.

He does Track and Cross Country, he is an officer at his school, and he is the Master of Ceremonies too. He's also a member of the National Honor Society at the school.

The school he wants to go to is University of Michigan. Does he have a chance, or should I start pushing him towards other things?

He talks about highest paid graduates with his friends.
Are there any colleges in the UC system to which he could get accepted? He applied to Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz.

Pay is more closely linked to major than to which college. Michigan doesn’t seem realistic. OOS students likely have to be stronger than instate but he may get into one, maybe SC, it is a good school.

I agree with brown parent.
some schools I would look at would be
auburn ,clemson ,university of pittsburgh which are all great schools if he wants a larger size school.

I think that UC applications were already due. Make sure to get all apps done soon. Try your state flagship and OOS privates, especially ones that are test-optional. This website lists all of the colleges that consider themselves to be test optional:

Why not also try Va schools? Richmond, VCU, GMU, ODU and W&L on those lines. UCSC is going to be expensive and IMO, not worth it comparing to Va schools.
