I got my financial aid package in the mail today, and I did get a scholarship- 4,00 dollars worth. I want to go to NYU so badly, but it is so expensive! My second choice school offered me 18,000 to go. Has anyone heard of NYU being open to upping financial aid money/work-study at all? My father's job situation is changing too, so it's not just that NYU is already expensive. Do you think there is any way I could negotiate a package that is a little higher? I would even welcome a work-study offer... anything that can help me go to the best college EVER!!!

You can appeal it.

I wrote 10 page essay for my appeal, and they gave me $1000 more

so don't count on it.

Don't count on it. They might give you $1000 more. However, chances are they'll smile nicely at you and say some polite platitudes which basically mean, "Take it or leave it." That's what they did with my younger sister when she applied last year.

Wow, what a bummer. Well, at least you got a bone thrown your way... as opposed to my financial aid package, which is all loans. .__.'' but this isn't to bring up my woes, just reminding you that you're definitely not alone.
