Does Oberlin require CSS NCP info?

Hey everybody,

In my process of shortlisting colleges for fall 2019 especially that don’t require CSS or if required, not the NCP info part, I checked the latest list of colleges that require CSS Profile and Oberlin requires it but not the NCP info part. But when I head over to Oberlin’s website and check all the necessary financial aid forms, it states that along with the CSS Profile, NCP statement / info has to be completed. Now I’m really confused with this contradictory info. Could you clear this for me? Thanks in advance.

How about contacting Oberlin’s Financial Aid Office directly? Or posting this in the Oberlin sub-forum.
But requirements change from year-to-year and people here may not have the latest info.

My experience was that Oberlin required the CSS for the first year but not subsequent years. I have no idea about NCP info.

@dscottvb : I’ve emailed them and it’s been 4 days already. They don’t answer my calls either. If that’s the case with NCP, I’ll have to strike Oberlin off my list.

Oberlin’s web site answers the question:
https://www.oberlin.edu/admissions-and-aid/financial-aid/applying-aid-prospective-students#app-step-3

Trust the college’s own web site over secondary sources like The College Board that may not be up to date.

@ucbalumnus : thanks for the link, I had already checked that. Then, Oberlin not requiring NCP info as mentioned on the college board website of 2018-19 CSS Profile colleges is wrong? Is that list not accurate? I know one should believe when the college’s website states the fact, but then, are there discrepancies on the college board’s list?

@GuessME5 This is a very busy time for college admissions…keep trying. Are you calling during business hours in the Eastern time zone (UTC−04:00)? I have never had any administrative dept at Oberlin not answer the phone during normal business hours.

Oberlin requires their own Non-Custodial Form to be filled out all four years. The form is available on the website.

Got it. Info on the college board’s website is wrong.

So does Connecticut College.
