Does one have to attend Ivy league undergrad school to be considered for their grad school?

Basically, am I at fault for attending a lesser known state school (Mich state, osu) over better known schools? I aspire to go to a good grad school in a great city (not necessarily Ivies). Any kind of info you have, feel free to share :)

Not at all. I’m an undergrad at an ivy league school and many of my TFs (who are graduate students here) were undergrads at less conventionally prestigious places. Worry not!

One of my grad degrees was done at an “Ivy.” (I cringe typing that word!) My 2 best friends in my program had gone to OSU. Others had gone to LACs I’d never heard of such as Hendrix College.

Certainly not. I went to a non-Ivy undergrad and an Ivy for grad. In my grad program, there were people from Michigan State.

No, I’m currently at an Ivy League university for grad school and I didn’t go to one for undergrad. You’ll be just fine at Michigan State or OSU.

If you take a look at Columbia’s PhD classes in Math, you might start wondering where do all Columbia math majors go after graduation.
