I am considering to apply Pitzer as my ED2 school. But I am not sure that whether it is my dream school. I want to study sociology and psychology. And my another ED2 choice is Lehigh . Which one may be better for me? Or should I give up applying ED2?

btw, do you regard LAC as a kind of second choice college compare to National University? And does student graduates from LAC have less job opportunities? I am international applicant and I do want to get in a LAC, but both my parents and classmates told me National University is better............

I will really appreciate if there is any feedback!!!

Pitzer has particularly strong psychology and sociology departments. Lehigh is much better for engineering. It is completely false that LAC’s have less opportunities than national universities. They may even give you more in some areas. Even though research departments may be more developed in national universities, LAC’s allow for more student-teacher interaction and a sense of a tight knit community. In a big research university, a professor may not even remember your name due to the very large class size. This rarely happens at LAC’s with small class sizes. Many notable people went to small LAC’s such as Hillary Clinton and Nathaniel Hawthorne. If Pitzer is where you feel you belong, go ahead and apply. I personally applied ED1, so we may be classmates!

Thank u! I submitted the application today! Though considering my standardized test scores, I may not have a strong possibility to get in… But who knows what will happen in the end? haha, hope to be your classmate next year!

Hi Dao,

Don’t forget that at Pitzer standardized test scores are a VERY small part of the process. Even if you have low scores, a good GPA and excellent extracurriculars can make up for it. Pitzer is about the whole person and the kind of contribution you can make to the College. As long as your essays were strong, I think that the test scores shouldn’t hurt you.

Good luck!

FYI pitzer is actually test optional so one does not even have to submit their test scores.

Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hm.
