Does playing a sport in college increase your chance for getting in???????

I'm not talking about like Top 10 in the country or something of that level. But if you are decent enough to (I run cross country, indoor, and outdoor track) run at Quinnipiac, Providence, Bentley, Babson, Northeastern, or UMass.

Does your chance of getting in increase?

Because I've devoted pretty much all of high school to running. I'm pretty sure I could probably run at one of these schools (IDK about Providence because they were 22nd in NCAA DI), but still.

My SAT score is 1670/2400, a 1160 not including the writing)
M:620
C:540
W:510

I'm not sure if colleges will notice this, but those were scores from the June 09 SAT, and for the May SAT I got a 1560/2400...with a 1120 not including writing
M:630
C:490
W:440

Would colleges notice the improvement, or would they not even notice it at all.

Also I'm ranked 30% in my about 700 size class and have an unweighted GPA of about 89.583.

I'm really looking at those colleges I listed above, so hopefully someone with some knowledge in those schools can help out, please do so.

Even if you don't any input would be greatly appreciated.

Also not sure if this really matters. For the past 2 summers and including this summer I will be working as an intern for this business. It's like a legit office with 40 hours a week type thing Mon-Fri. Would this have any effect on my application/do colleges even care?

Thanks.

Bump.

Someone please…

…

Yeah, playing sports definately does help, I mean its an extracurricular, and its impressive if youre actually good at it, which you seem to be.

I have no idea about the internship thing, Im kinda wondering the same thing. It will probably help but I dont know how much and if its worth the 40hr wk and everything.

shameless bump.

Playing a sport is never really a negative. It can’t hurt to ask to meet with a coach and maybe you’ll get recruited (this happened to somebody I know). I’m not sure if this type of thing is common or not.

…anyone else.

thanks for the input so far.

wow every seems dead.

Sorry, but at the schools you’re looking at, ECs really aren’t very valuable.
