Just curious as to whether all the SAT prep for the upcoming PSAT in the fall would boost the ACT score at all. I understand that they are very different tests and some of the strategies used in working through SAT problems are not applicable for the ACT. I just wondered if anyone saw their ACT score improve simply by virtue of studying for the SAT.

well both tests have similar content…math and english. Taking the SAT could help you review math skills and grammar. Punctuations skills. There isn’t really any vocab stuff on the ACT, and you’d have to prepare for the science section of the ACT outside of SAT stuff. Work on practice reading sections. I would really probably just study the ACT or both though. You don’t exactly have to go and take one of those $500 ACT prep classes, but definitely buy a practice/review book or 2.

Some of the basic math strategies from your SAT prep will carry over to the ACT, but the ACT is a much more straightforward test. Therefore, many of the more advanced SAT strategies aren’t necessary for the ACT, but you need to know some more advanced mathematics on the ACT.

There is no science section on the SAT, so no help there.

I can’t really speak for Verbal. I’ll leave that to others.
