I'm wondering if they do, because, since they don't look at 9th grade, they'd only be evaluating you on 8 quarters...

i dont think so...they never asked for them anywhere on the app

how true do u think it is that they dont look at 9th grade at all?

I'm sending mine by rush mail, I figure it can't hurt me.

My counselors send first quarter grades for all early applicants, unless it's really really bad then they do some explaining on why they won't send.

My school refuses to send first quarter grades because they're only progress reports and my school doesn't want colleges to get in the habit of asking for them. shrugs

a) I think Princeton does glance at your freshman year grades now that they ask for them (to be consistent with common app) but they won't use them to calculate ur GPA?

b) My school's transcript doesn't show quarter or semester, so if they didn't give first quarter grades and pton doesn't use freshman year, they'd only be seeing two grades for each subject =/

so if i get my report card soon for quarter 1 (i should next week) should i mail it? i think it could help me, since they're straight A's :)

yeah, zantedeschia...my school's even worse...they don't show the quarter grades either...they only show the YEAR grade (based on an average of 4 quarters) so, if what they say about not looking at freshman year grades is true, they'd be working off a total of 14 grades for me

Yea, we only show year grade as well, averaging the final (as in test) grade and two semesters which is each averaging two quarters.

I don't know if you should mail it though if your school doesn't have a policy of sending them. They might not get them in time.

hmmmm...maybe i'll call and ask...i mean they want the midyear report for RD people, why not 1st quarter for ED ppl?

They want your midyear too, but then it's kind of retroactive. No, I think it makes perfect sense to send first quarter, just ask if they'll get it in time. We don't know when they'll be making decisions, so if you let them know that ur sending them, they'll know to expect them.

so princeton actually recalculates your GPA without freshman year grades?

I believe so. They have their own scale; different courses weigh more or less depending on difficulty.
