My studying plan up to the September 15 test is to take a Real ACT Test each weekend and study Barron's throughout the week....eventually I'll average the 3 scores from each section and that should give me a fair indication on what I'll receive. Is this a good strategy or are there some flaws?

I took Real ACT test 1 today and got a 32 ; (E31 M35 R29 S33)

For those of you have taken the Real ACT Tests, can you state how you did on any/all of the three tests in the book and how you did on the actual thing. I just want to see if there is any correlation between the two or is it simply just another type of test.

I just found a thread like this one back in the ACT forum, and a couple of posters said they actually did better by a couple of points on the actual test than the practice tests in the Real ACT book, that is good news!

The real key to success on the ACT is correctly answering as many questions as possible WITHIN THE TIME ALLOWED. Most of the questions on the ACT really aren't that difficult, but the time pressure buries a lot of would be high scorers and the curve is quite harsh. If you are taking the practice tests under timed conditions and doing well, that's probably a reasonably good predictor of success on the actual exam -- but as we all know, not everyone performs as well under the pressure of the real thing.

I got a 30, 32 and 31 on my practice tests. I only got a 28 on the real thing because when I timed myself for the practice tests I didn't calculate time to bubble in the damn answers! doh! lol

Yes, if you take a practice test to simulate taking a real test (which is BY FAR the best form of practice), then it is important to be exact as possible in the simulation. Don't give yourself an extra second on the timing, and bubble in answers on a real bubble sheet. Practice under such conditions generally gets you well ready for the test, if you stay calm and confident on test day.

Ok, so I finished taking all three tests these past 3 weekends. My scores were:

Test 1: E31 M35 R29 S33 C32
Test 2: E33 M35 R29 S29 C32
Test 3: E34 M34 R28 S28 C31
Overall Average: E33 M35 R29 S30 C32
Average Ques Correct per section: E71 M58 R31 S35

Is this the type of score I'll probably receive next Saturday (31-32) or what else can give me an even better indication? Also, is there anything I can do possibly in the next week to just raise that Reading and Science into the 30-32 category? Thanks

Well it should be identical difficulty because it contains 3 previously used ACT tests (actualt tests). So I don't see why it would be any easier/harder.
