I had 3 core teachers (science,math, and English) write me rec letters. Will that help my chances of getting in?
Well, if the college expects 2 or 3, it helps in the sense that you did send them. Other than that, we have no idea of the content or quality. Right?
They won’t hurt and could help on the margin. UMN doesn’t require rec. letter and they are considered “secondary” factors in determining admission (primary factors being gpa/rank, tests scores, and course rigor). They might make a difference for a candidate who struggled at some point during high school but who has shown significant improvement over time and whose counselor or teachers can attest to academic preparedness and college readiness. That sort of thing.
