I see so many people submitting recommendations and some say they don't help at all. Should I submit my recs? I have 1 Rec now but I can easily find another rec if it brings my chance up for admission. On Purdue website, there's one section saying information provided by high school guidance counselor (or other school administrator), Is that recommendation letter?

So basically, why do people submit recs and do they help and increase your chance for admission.

For all of the most competitive schools, two recommendation letters (from teachers) are required in addition to a counselor evaluation. It depends on which schools you’re applying to, but recommendation letters do help if they are no generic and very positive; keep in mind that most people have positive recommendation letters. The information provided by the counselor is usually separate from an academic rec letter.

Plus Letter of rec isn’t an evaluation criteria listed on their website? And since it really isn’t important, would it turn an admission decision?

Ok, Ill ask the teacher to email them tomorrow to International Students and scholars. But I have no idea what’s on it, hopefully nothing negative(which I don’t think).
