Does Rutgers Have a MT Major?

I have very confusing information from the Rutgers University website. I downloaded pages that appear to show RU as having a musical theater major, but when I go back I can't find it again... several campuses, more than one perf arts school (I think)... Anyway, can anyone enlighten me about Rutgers?

I believe Mason Gross is the college within Rutgers that has MT.

Hmmm....I thought Mason Gross at Rutgers has a BFA in ACTING, not MT. However, I also think it has a degree in Vocal Performance. I have to look that up but I once corresponded with a woman whose D did MT but who got into and planned to attend Mason Gross for VOICE, but right before entering, was cast as the understudy for Tracy on the National Tour of Hairspray. I really didn't think the degree was in MT. It may have been a BM. I'd have to look it up.

Mason Gross School of the Arts (located at the main campus in New Brunswick)....just looked at their website....
BFA in Acting in the Theater Department.
BM in Music Performance (including voice) in the Music Department...can be classical or jazz. It is not Musical Theater.

From their website:

There is no Musical Theater program at Mason Gross. However, there is a program in Musical Theater offered through Rutgers-Camden.

Hope this helps.

Unless Rutgers Mason Gross has changed significantly since I applied there for BFA acting (in the last 1980s... so it could have changed :)). There is no MT at Mason Gross, and you would not have the time, nor be encouraged to take dance classes and voice classes outside of the BFA Acting major. I would contact the BFA program directly and ask them if this is still the case if you are interested in Mason Gross.

There is no relationship between Drama and Music Departments at Rutgers, except that they are in the same College, i.e. Mason Gross. However, on the Livingston Campus at Rutgers in New Brunswick, there is a very active musical theater troupe, the Livingston Theater Company, totally run by students, which puts on four completely staged and costumed musical theater productions a year. The casts are chosen from any major, but they do include drama and music majors. They are done with a small orchestra, sometimes in a reorchestrated version, depending on the requirements. The standards of performance vary from person to person, but there are lots of opportunities.
