Does Santa Clara "stack" financial aid?

I've heard it said that some colleges don't like to "stack" financial aid -- meaning they either give you merit aid or they give you need-based aid -- but they don't typically combine. S2 is interested in Santa Clara and will have very good stats AND need. Does anyone here know how SCU treats this type of "combo" student when it comes to financial aid?

Note: S1's package at a private school in Illinois was a combo of merit and need.

SCU does combine merit and need based aid.

They are often so generous with merit aid, however, that need-based doesn’t come into the picture. Need-based aid will obviously only be given if the need exceeds the amount of the merit scholarship. You will likely be pleasantly surprised.
