Does SAT Writing count??!

Hey yall.

So the common data set for Penn says that they do look at the writing section + they use the essay for admissions. Does the common data set from last year still apply this year? And do they just look at writing, or do they consider it the same as they do CR + M. In other words, do they look at the /2400 score, just the /1600 score (which i doubt), or the /1600 and look at the writing as the equivalent of a subject test/ just another part of your app.

Please only answer if you actually know!! And please don't say... well you still need to do well in it regardless blah blah blah... it's almost time for decisions and I'm paranoid and I'd just like an inkling as to how they are going to look at the sats (my /2400 and /1600 are vastly different).

thanks yall!

yes. all ivies look at it… except cornell… :(

I really wish they didn’t read the essays…
80 MC, 8 E. Lol

Penn definitely looks at the Writing section. Now as of the essay in the writing section, I doubt that colleges read it in detail given that the admission staff already have to read so many other essays and addition info.

I had a significantly lower critical reading score than writing (120 point difference), so I’m pretty sure they looked at the writing section for me since I got in. If you’re planning on majoring in a science/engineering, they may overlook a lower English test score if you can show your strength in science. That’s one of the main purposes of the subject tests.
