I have room for an elective like Dance or PE in my schedule. Does it look better to have Dance or PE which are easy A's than to have a study hall?

You don't get a credit or grade in study hall, so I'm assuming it's better to take an elective which gives a credit and grade?

This is for my senior year. I've never had study hall before.

Take the elective if you’ll enjoy it - not for the easy A. You are young and supposed to enjoy your life. I enforced that my kid have at least one class “for herself” in each year of HS, something she chose for personal choice and not school requirements or college prep/expectations. She’s chosen psych, photography, philosophy etc.

You won’t get penalized for study hall. It won’t go on your transcript anyway.

having a class is better than a study hall.

Class is better than study hall, but only you can tell if you will enjoy the class and/or if the study hall will be necessary if you have a heavy schedule. It doesn’t show up on your transcript, but if you are taking less classes for some reason (which means less credits) there probably should be an identifiable reason why (harder classes, more commitment to ECs, job, ect) Overall, I personally feel like another class would be beneficial unless it is in the middle of the day and you could use it to study for a difficult class the following period. If it is near the end or super near the beginning, in those cases, I feel like it is not as helpful because you could just spend that extra 45 minutes or so at home doing it

If it makes you feel better, most colleges won’t consider PE, dance, OR study hall. You will be fine either way.

Thanks for all the replies. PE and Dance does factor into my schools gpa so it would help me with my class rank. I will just take Dance class as it is really fun.
