Just curious, does anyone have opinions/anecdotes on this?
I have been studying for the SAT but have neglected to study for the ACT. Has anyone else experienced this?

I expect one of three things to happen:

1) improvement on ACT
2) ACT score stays the same
3) ACT score actually drops because I've been focusing on the SAT.

I expect either choice #1 or 3 to happen. Does anyone have any input?

So, you have already taken ACT once? I think studying for one will help the other, although different. My S had taken the SAT, then studied for the ACT, and then did well on ACT and improved on SAT.

For me, I bet my ACT performance improved because I studied for the SAT. I spent all my time studying for the June SAT, bringing my 208 PSAT to a 2270 SAT. Then I took the ACT with only a few hours of preparation and got a 33.25 (so close to 34 :/). Although I never took an entire ACT practice test before I took the ACT, I probably could have expected a 31-32 had I not studied for the SAT.

The strategies are somewhat different and the way the tests are set up are somewhat different. Otherwise, there is very similar actual knowledge required on both. So I highly doubt that your score would be going down if you have been studying for either test, or at least not for that reason. Don’t you worry

I’m not sure of the impact. But the SAT and ACT are entirely different tests, testing different things. The SAT is an aptitude test, while the ACT is an achievement test. Math is more straight forward on the ACT as well as the Reading. The SAT is more of a problem solving test. The English on the ACT is like the writing and the Science is actually called “Science Problem Solving” so sort of like the SAT.
