I recently got accepted to this summer volunteering activity at a hospital and we are required to do a minimum of 48 hours over our 2 month summer break. If we are invited to, we can come back during the next school year and continue to volunteer. The only reason why I called it intern based is because we will have to attend education sessions that are taught by professors of various medical areas throughout the summer as well as a requirement of the program. I really want to do this and I just wanted to see if doing this will make me look more appealing compared to other applying students. Thank you.
I know that in CA, if it’s an internship, you have to be paid even though a few educational institutions have exemptions. what you have sounds like volunteering. Whether it’s volunteering or internship, I think both would look great.
I am not sure if interning in such a program would significantly set you apart but I think colleges would definitely like that it is a volunteering service adn if you are applying to medical school, it would also be nice as your activity is at a hospital.
