I know senior year should be rigorous. I’m already taking 4 AP Classes and 1 regular class. Right now I’m thinking about switching out of AP Statistics and switching into Teachers Aide. Has anyone here on the UC Davis forum, been accepted to UC Davis with teachers aide as a class?

Um, I’m pretty sure that as long as you fulfill the A-G subject requirements, they don’t give a damn if you’re a teacher’s aide.

Don’t they look at your senior schedule to see how rigorous it is?

Will Colleges think I’m lazy?

No, they won’t think you’re lazy just because you’re taking one less AP course than planned. In fact, AP courses are not a factor in how hardworking a student is. AP courses really aren’t all that–if you take a look at [this matrix](http://catalog.ucdavis.edu/PDF/CollegeBoardAdvancedPlacement.pdf) for Statistics, you’ll see that AP courses don’t really count for much. Only the College of Letters and Science takes AP Statistics credits, if I’m reading the matrix correctly.

I’m pretty sure it counts for math and some of the sciences. They just help you jump to the next course in the sequence.

I had a free period senior year so I became an office aide. It was awesome, I got offered an after school job as a secretary thanks to that. (woo job experience!) My senior year schedule was much less “rigorous” than my junior year schedule since I only had two APs and no honors(but it felt much harder probably because of senioritis >:I)I even took weightlifting class to fill up space haha! Ok ok I’m going off on a tangent haha all in all I got into UC Davis, Cal, blahblah all the colleges I applied to. Just keep your grades up and have nice extracurriculars, you should be fine.

I’m hesitant on switching because a lot of people around me are saying that TA would look bad, and that it could be the deciding factor. But I simply have too much AP classes to deal with right now, and AP Stats seems like the better class to drop for my personally. Should I just stick with it till the end? I probably have to self study because my teacher honestly isn’t that good, which is why I’m thinking about switching out.

Shouldn’t make too big of a difference. I didn’t take all APs (only 3) and got in fine. Take what’s most important to you. My BC Calc teacher couldn’t teach to save his life, and I would have dropped it but it would have ruined my schedule. If you can’t really learn from it, it shouldn’t be too big a deal. Especially if it’s not an A-G…

I had a TA period junior and senior year, and also had a free period (which became study hall in the second semester) in my senior year. I wouldn’t worry; go with what’s best for you.

As for taking one TA period being a deciding factor, I highly doubt it. Honestly, it shouldn’t be an issue so long as you complete your a-g courses and maintain your grades.
