There were 6 slots on the apllication for extracurriculars and community involvement so I might have stretched one or two. Do you think the scholarship board will call my school to verify club memberships?

I don’t know if they’ll call. What do you want me to say - that it was okay to lie because you really need the money?

I’d suggest sending a short (very short) email correcting any errors in your application. No explanation needed. Just say, “Sorry, my only two extracurriculars this year were X and Y.” And not another word.

Whatever happened to ethics?

I have already resent a more accurate and honest application to the college. I know I did wrong and have since reflected on my mistake.

Glad to hear it’s been corrected - thanks for letting us know! :)

I don’t condone it, but I’d guess most students stretch the EC’s. E.G. 2nd chair becomes first chair. JV beomes Varisty. 10 Hours community service become a typo of 100 hours. It’s more a reflection of our society as a whole. Sadly you’re the norm.

That took a lot of character to fix, OP. We all do things we regret and the line between “packaging/selling” yourself to schools and overstating your credentials can get murky. Look ahead!

Good question. I’m guessing they would since they are giving away a lot of money.
