does the athletic supplement gives an advantage ?

Hello, does it gives an advantages if i have good scores and if i put it in the athletic supplement ?
And another totally opposite question,my mother is romanian (eastern european) and my dad is french. I have the french nationality but does my romanian origine gives me an advantage in the harvard application and how should i tell it .
Thank you very much,i asked a lot of questions lately

  1. If you’re not actually being recruited by the coaching staff at Harvard, your athletic supplement will equal any other student’s strong accomplishment.

  2. You’re mistaken about your Romanian heritage giving you any advantage per se. People from international backgrounds is commonplace. Indeed, if you’re only a French citizen and not a US citizen nor possess US permanent resident status, you’re at a SEVERE disadvantage. The international pool faces the most difficult admissions.

what a discouraging response but i have backup school so i will try .
Do you know how to be recruited by a harvard coach ?

What sport?

If you go to Harvard’s International Office Statistics page (http://www.hio.harvard.edu/statistics) and from the pull-down menus, select STUDENTS, HARVARD COLLEGE (the undergraduate school) and ROMANIA, you will see there are currently 6 students from Romania who are freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors. That means that, on average, Harvard accepts about 1 student a year from Romania and every other year, accepts 2 students. No one knows how many students from Romania apply for those 1 or 2 slots, but yes, those are the discouraging statistics.

It’s not that much more encouraging for French students, as there are 7 students from France currently enrolled at the college – meaning that Harvard accepts about 2 students per year from France, and every fourth year accepts 1 student.

And as T26E4 said, unless you can play competitively in NCAA Division 1 (http://www.ncaa.org/d1), an athletic supplement isn’t going to give you an advantage.

You must first register with theNCAA Eligibility Center: http://web3.ncaa.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/NCAA.jsp and then contact the coaches for your sport at Harvard:http://gocrimson.com/information/recruiting/index

You’re asking sincere questions about being admitted to one of the MOST selective universities extant – but unfortunately, you’re not going to like the answers.

If you’ve not already been heavily courted by many coaches since you were in the 10th or 11th grade or you’ve recently become one of your region’s topmost athletes in your sport, then you’re not a recruitable athlete. Since the bulk of your inquiries have been based upon your background and languages versus a serious inquiry about handling college recruiting questions, I’m assuming you’re likely not a premier US college level athlete. However, like JustOneDad said, tell us the sport and perhaps we can shed more light.

i do ‘‘running’’ . I started four years later and my scores are correct maybe good .
I knew Harvard was difficult but i wanted to try

How do your times compare with the members of Harvard’s current team? If they are solidly among them, then you have something to say to the Harvard (and other colleges) coaches. This is info you can google. If indeed, you’re a fantastic athlete, by all means let schools know. If you can help them, they’ll want to help you. Good luck.

For a sport that’s very cut-and-dry like track & field, if you were recruitable, the coaches would have already contacted you. So while it is a very strong extracurricular activity, it is not better than any other EC.

what is an athletic supplement?

^^ I thought that question was google-able, but when I double-checked, I found the following from last year, which was news to me: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/adana/5/PASandEDU/CA14%20StudentGuideAugust2014_Final.pdf

Harvard, and all other Ivy League schools, offer no Athletic Scholarships (which is probably what the Athletic Supplement really translates to). Just so that the OP knows.

^^ Actually the Common App, which has over 300 membership schools, did away with the Athletic Supplement for ALL colleges – those who offer athletic scholarships and those that don’t. So, it wasn’t about that!

i did 10-78 more than a lot of runners at harvard coach i think i will do what you tell me thanks

told me*

I do hope 10.78 is a 100M time and not a 50M.
